Vivienne Byrne is a Drogheda based artist whose multi-disciplinary practice mixes traditional art forms with video and mixed-media installation. Her interest lies in exploring methods of reflection, the transitory experience and capturing time. She uses imagery from the natural environment as a point of departure to demonstrate and navigate the rhythms and tempos of time unfolding. Her intention is to reveal some aspects of the invisible forces at work in our collective metaphysical landscape. Her aim is to create visual music, or something of that nature. She is constantly inspired by the countryside of the Boyne Valley and estuary, where she lives with my family.
Since graduating from IADT Dun Laoghaire in 2009 with a BA in Visual Arts Practice, she has exhibited nationally, curating and collaborating with other visual artists, composers, authors, musicians, theatre practitioners, computer programmers and community groups in a wide range of projects. She has received awards from Create Ireland, Creative Ireland and Louth Local Authority, as well as residencies at Creative Spark in Dundalk and the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Monaghan.
She has over 25 years of experience facilitating creative projects nationally. As a Board Member of the Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda and founding member of the Borrowed Ground Studios Collective and Print Point Studio, she is committed to supporting the value of arts practice and artists to their communities.
